A group of wireless industry veterans have chosen Mobile World Congress 2014 as the backdrop for announcing a new innovative solution. Cirrus Core Networks, aka CCN, today announced the launch of its Infrastructure as a Service managed solution consisting of LTE packet core, IMS/VoLTE and an application/content delivery ecosystem. The comprehensive offering is completely Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) based. “When we set about forming CCN, we wanted to create a service that was simple, flexible, feature rich, and low cost. All aspects which would be impossible to achieve with traditional legacy equipment.” said Adam Crane, CCN’s CEO “NFV provided us the ability to bring to market exactly what we originally defined.”
CCN evaluated a number of solution partners before choosing an EPC, an IMS and a Content Delivery platform. What set these partners apart from others evaluated was their passion for NFV. These partners will be formally announced over the next several months.
The backbone of CCN’s solution is Stratus®, an end to end operations and business support system with a simple user defined Dashboard for monitoring real time and historical network operations. “Designing and building a solid OSS/BSS wrapper from scratch was critical for CCN’s vision,” said Malek Ladki, CCN’s CSO. “A best in class managed service requires flexibility and operational excellence.”
With the launch of CCN’s fully managed service, small or regional MNOs, MVNOs, M2M MNOs, and MNOs looking to deploy Small Cells now all have a low cost, feature rich, flexible, and simple packet core, IMS, and content delivery solution alternative.
